1. <\/strong>The Counavian Gorge <\/strong>is the richest in greek gorge of the prefecture of Heraklion with incredible green, a real oasis in the center of Pediados Heraklion. Its name is taken from the village of Kounavi in whose real estate it belongs to.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Almyros canyon<\/strong> is located in the location of \nHellenopetrama, very close to Heraklion, being the closest to the \nwestern gorge in the city of Heraklion, a natural oasis very close to \nthe bustling city. It is formed between the hills of Keris and \nKastrokefala with the ancient state at its top, from which we have a \nunique view inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. The Knossos Gorge (or Agia Irini Gorge)<\/strong>, better \nknown as Archaniotiko, starts from Archanes, is a natural continuation \nof the Yuchtas Mountain with a total length of 5.7 km. It stretches \nsouth of Archanes (Agios Mamas), runs through Settlement of Archanes at \nKato Mylos, where begins the part known as Silamian gorge. This piece is\n beautiful with smooth gabled rocks and huge plane trees, and is easily \naccessible by car as the road passes through it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. At the west of the village of Ano Asites passes the river \nof the village, which initially begins at the Gorge of Agios Charalambos<\/strong>,\n soon transformed into a deep and impressive gorge, the gorge of Agios \nAntonios. The entrance to the gorge is made by a downhill path that \nstarts next to the picturesque Byzantine church of Agios Antonios, where\n there is a spring with potable water and ends near Panagia Faneromeni \nin Cherrasia.
The canyon has dense vegetation with perennial plane \ntrees and in many places it forms small waterfalls. It is part of the E4\n European path but there is no pathway along the way, while in some \nnarrow places where walking in the water is impossible in the winter, \none needs to pass by the side.
5. Spiliotissa Gorge is located about 24km south of Heraklion<\/strong>.\n It is a green ravine that starts from the village of Houdetsi, passes \nfrom the Holy Kingdom and ends up in the plain of Pezes. The most \nbeautiful part of it is located between Houdetsi and the Holy Kingdom, \n1.5km long.
Starting from Houdetsi, where you can park in the \nvillage, we descend to the well preserved path to the Holy Kingdom. The \npath traverses dense vegetation and canals, watered by the stream of the\n gorge. In the summer, the shade of the huge plane trees provokes.
In\n the very first steps of our journey we find the Byzantine churches of \nSt. John the Baptist and Saint Anthony, and two watermills that were \npreviously used for milling. After 500m, we meet the historic Sinai \nmonastery of Panagia Spiliotissa, from where the name of the gorge takes\n its name. After a short tour of the small monastery with the cavernous \ntemple, we continue our journey into the heart of the lush gorge, as the\n Holy Kingdom. From there we can go back to Houdetsi and relax in one of\n the village taverns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. The Embasa<\/strong> gorge starts from Kato Kera and ends \nat the Plateau Corners after a 2km course. Initially, it is very steep \nand in the winter many waterfalls form with the largest being about 20m \nhigh.
Access to waterfalls is easier if you ascend the Gorge from the\n Gorge, but the lush vegetation and the great slopes make access quite \ndifficult. The vegetation consists mainly of sawdust, plantains and \nothers
7. The Agios Charalambos canal<\/strong> is a small but\n beautiful gorge located south of the village of Ano Asites. It takes \nits name from the chapel of Saint Charalambos at its beginning. By the \nmiddle of spring there is water that causes hikers to traverse (walk \nthrough the walls) through a path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. A few meters east of the Tsoutsoura Gorge is a small knot<\/strong> on the front of the earth, the smallest but equally impressive gorge of the Troulis<\/strong>.\n It is equally impressive with many and beautiful waterfalls in its \npassage, the largest is 15 meters high, followed by 15 smaller ones. \nBecause it is right next to Tsoutsoura’s big gorge but similar \ngeologically and smaller the first group that secured it by crossing it \ncalled it Tsoutsouraki.
The entrance is located to the west of the \nimpressive Toulas of Toutouras in the area of Meli Lakkos (the place, \nthe dump that produces enough honey) and its exit to the area of \nStaoussa just outside the village. It is only possible to reach it with \nCanyoning Canyoning Equipment, especially in the winter months when its \nwaterfalls have plenty of water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. The gorge of Agios Nikolaos, Gafares or Rouvas i<\/strong>s\n defined by the summits of Ambelakia to the east and Samari to the west.\n It is the most important gorge of Psiloritis and central Crete and it \nwas named after the homonymous Byzantine chapel at its southern \nentrance. It is an ecosystem with rich flora and fauna, ravines and \ninteresting geological formations and slopes of rare beauty. It has a \ntotal length of 4 km with a 2.7 km course for mild activities and \nrecreation such as hiking, mountaineering, climbing, wildlife and \nwildlife observation in a truly unique setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
